It is accurate that 2020 changed the way we work. Many believe that we will never go back to thinking about work as a location but instead a culture. Microsoft is doubling down on this theory and has created a platform to truly connect employees in a virtual setting. As Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said, “As the world recovers, there is no going back. Flexibility in when, where, and how we work will be key.” Micirosoft's solution, is newly released Microsoft Viva. Like the “Intranet” of old, Microsoft Viva is a platform that connects essential aspects of a your business in one central location.
The Microsoft Viva “dashboard” is broken down into four categories for simple navigating. The specific modules are Connections, Insights, Learning, and Topics.
Connections: Within the connections module, there will be internal communications and resources. This module could include company news, employee resource groups and communities, as well as benefits and company policies.
Insights: The Insight module is more of a data-driven dashboard. It will include work patterns and trends and appears to be a development of Microsoft’s Productively Score Feature. Within Insights, there will be a place for personal employee insights only visible to the employee but also a place for managers or leaders to monitor progress and trends.
Learning: Viva Learning is just as it sounds, a module for employee learning and development. This is where all employees could access training materials, courses, and employee education content. This module can be customized with unique business content, third-party training material as well as content from Microsoft Learn and LinkedIn.
Topics: As Microsoft 365 head Jared Spataro put it, “Think of Viva topics as a Wikipedia for the organization.” Viva topics use AI to organize and generate topic cards, videos, and related people. It is like a search engine specific to your organization.
Microsoft Viva is the platform for the times. We at Pendello Solutions are eager to utilize the forum to experience and spread our Pendello culture even when not in the office. As we experience and learn more about its capabilities, we are hopeful it will be an essential tool for our client base.
